What SUDS is
SUDS is the hosted data platform for California harm-reduction and substance-use disorder (SUD) programs. It runs the daily work of a program in one system:
- Street outreach encounters — named or anonymous, with offline capture
- Naloxone and supply distribution tracked by lot
- Referrals and follow-up
- Consent management built for 42 CFR Part 2
- Reporting for CalOMS Tx and opioid-settlement requirements
SUDS is built and operated by AugustInnovations LLC, a California LLC (Entity No. 202253018246; D-U-N-S 12-343-3746) whose operator is a practicing Clinical Application Specialist II.
Deployment model
SUDS is multi-tenant software operated by AugustInnovations on one managed fleet — with strict per-tenant isolation:
- Each tenant organization gets its own instance/process, its own database, its own encryption keys, and its own subdomain
- Tenants never share a database with another organization
- Hosting is included in every engagement; there is nothing for the buyer to install or maintain
Security posture
- Encryption at rest for tenant data
- Tamper-evident audit logging of access and changes
- 42 CFR Part 2 consent workflows enforced in the application, not left to policy
- Role-based access with multi-factor authentication
- Security testing is built into the platform lifecycle: internal security assessment on every release, and independent third-party penetration testing of the platform

Status
- Version 1.26.0 is live in production (released October 2026), operated by AugustInnovations LLC.
- A single-device browser version of SUDS is available for evaluation and small-team program use.
- Customer agreements, including BAA/QSOA documentation where applicable, are available on request.
